Detects brightness with high accuracy

With X-LED, you can measure LEDs in headlights with extremely high accuracy and detect minimal changes in brightness. The control of each individual LED is visible down to the details of the pulse width modulation (PWM). This depth of information is a major advantage over measurements using camera technology and is crucial for evaluating the control electronics..

More precise measurement thanks to fiber optic technology

High-performance optical fibers guide the luminous flux of the LEDs to sensitive photo diodes with very high sensitivity in the visible and near infrared range. These can detect rise and fall times of up to of up to 10 nanoseconds. The connected highly flexible analogue amplifier stage prepares the signal for digital conversion in the data acquisition unit optimally.

The right version for every job

X-LED uses plug-in cards with 4 channels each and is scalable as required. Versions with several hundred channels are easily possible. Depending on the number of channels, we supply the system as a compact housing or in mobile 19" racks.

Easy integration of additional functions

Any common hardware and software can be used for data acquisition and processing. The ideal combination is with NI's PXIe and LabVIEW, for which measX provides a lot of suitable modules. This allows you to easily integrate other systems and signals and for example control climatic chambers and other actuators according to your needs.

To complement the PXIe-based X-LED acquisition system, we develop test and evaluation software that is precisely tailored to your application. This way you quickly get exactly the information you need for your job.

Mobile Test Rig for lead-acid batteries

eGAS20 756x508Side reactions in modern lead-acid batteries are complex especially under dynamic conditions. But knowing about the behavior and condition of the battery is very important in the development of lead acid batteries for today‘s vehicles with start-stop systems micro-hybrid solutions.
measX now offers a new portable method for rapid measurement of water loss in advanced lead batteries.

Current measurement of water loss

Advanced lead batteries (EFB and AGM) have far superior Dynamic Charge Acceptance (DCA) compared to lead batteries of the past. However, a side effect of the improved DCA is the observed accelerated water loss at high temperature due to hydrogen evolution.
This needs to be measured quantitatively by weight (g/Ah) (with a precise balance) or by volume (ml/minute) and gas composition (% hydrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide-using a specialised device such as the measX eGAS) to understand the processes.
The weight change measurements is the most common method but it is imprecise and lacks time resolution.
The volumetric measurement is available but not widely used and limited to the laboratory.
As third option gassing rate and gas composition evaluation techniques are used but they are complicated, time consuming, and only available in specific R&D laboratories and can’t be used for field measurements.

The eGas Solution

In-situ real-time measurement of gas flow and composition is straightforward with modern sensors. (Figure 1). They can accurately detect the amount of produced gas.

Compact and portable

eGAS provides a unique solution for measuring water loss in high DCA lead batteries as a portable, compact and inexpensive device. In-situ measurement of water loss and evolved gas composition now can be conducted both in field and in the laboratory.
eGAS will have revolutionary impact on quantity and quality of collected battery failure data.

The system is designed for flexible standalone operation in a laboratory or a vehicle and will record gas flow rates (up to 100 ml/min), concentrations of hydrogen, oxygen, and carbon-dioxide, along with battery voltage and temperature as well as ambient pressure and temperature. It is recommended for all investigations of side reactions in EFB and EFB+C, for example Tafel characterization, water consumption/gasing under laboratory or driving conditions, oxygen cycle in flooded and valve-regulated systems, as well as selection of additives for high DCA. Additional parameters such as battery voltage and temperature are also logged by the system.
Figure 2 and 2a show examples of gas flow collected from urban drive cycle and technical specifications of the system.

High-precision: X-Conn Runout measures shafts

The service life of shafts depends significantly on their true running characteristics, but material damage can also lead shaft failure. measX has developed a mobile, easy-to-use test system that can measure and depict the true running, surface roughness and, if an inductive sensor is used, material alterations in the of shafts.

The system can be used for quality control of the runout tracks during production and assembly as well as for preventive maintenance at the installation site of a shaft. The measurement system is highly precise: even the smallest deviations and damage are detected.

The portable design also makes it easy to use on large shafts that are monitored for runout during operation with no-contact vibration sensors in specific measurement tracks. These measurement tracks are ground into the shaft, polished to minimal roughness and feature the highest surface quality. The high precision of X-Conn Runout of < 1 µm enables precise information to be acquired even from these runout tracks.
